The Great Plains of the US and some Piney Woods too!!!

Our adventure blog starts with Nebraska.  Oklahoma and Kansas are remarkably uninteresting.

Nebraska is a state within the Great Plains of the US.  However, there is more to this state than meets the eye.  Plenty of rolling hills, drops off,  Piney Woods and the Ogallala Aquifer ,

I had fun learning about this aquifer with my AP Environmental students this year.  The Keystone Pipeline directly threatens the major national resource.

"One of the world's largest aquifers, it covers an area of approximately 174,000 mi² (450,000 km²) in portions of the eight states of South DakotaNebraskaWyoming,ColoradoKansasOklahomaNew Mexico, and Texas. It was named in 1898 by N.H. Darton from its type locality near the town of Ogallala, Nebraska."
